FLAVOUR IS HERE! SO WHAT DOES HIS SONG MEAN?

Nigerian artiste Flavour Nabania jetted into Nairobi Wednesday evening (October 12) for the Naija Night at the Carnivore on Saturday. He will be joined by Kenyan stars Wyre the Love Child, Habida, Camp Mulla and fello Naija acts Naeto C and Omawumi.

KAVEKE HEADS TO UK FOR LONDON FASHION WEEK

Kenyan designer John Kaveke jets out tonight to showcase his new line dubbed Askari Kanga to be showcased at this year’s London Fashion Week on September 16.
Kaveke’s line is reminiscent of the colonial era when the British, German, Belgian and Italians clashed in the East Africa interior. To protect their conquered territories they recruited locals as a native police force. These local soldiers were referred to as Askari Kangas.



The Askari Kanga played a crucial role in the initial conquest of the various colonial territories and subsequently served as garrison and internal security forces. During both World Wars, Askari units were deployed outside the boundaries of their colonies of origin exposing them to new cultures, fabrics and colours.




His collection therefore includes jumpsuit shorts, tailored menswear that pays tribute to simple lines and colours accessorised with modern sandstorm bags. Tailored jackets for men with military detail evoking the brassed-and-buckled look in white and turquoise linen. Trousers inspired by breeches and knee-length socks, are slim pattern-blocked pants with pinched panels and t-shirts showing off the detailed essence of the Kanga tales.



The production team working tirelessly behind the scenes comprise of style guru Connie Aluoch, fashion stylist Eddie Kirindo, body paint and make-up artist Muthoni Njoba, uber Photographer Emmanuel Jambo and songstress Habida who lends her voice as the soundtrack of the collection.

HABIDA TO OPEN SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF

Singer Habida who is currently in Germany recording a number of tracks with top German producers/DJ plans on opening school for the deaf. The desire to do this stems from her observations and experiences on the issue.
The Sunshine singer spoke of future plans to start a school for the deaf.
“The reason I’m particular about this cause, is because my sister has a deaf son and I have seen how there are no resources to provide for this,” she told Hot Secrets.
Asked about how life is as a married woman, the highly conservative singer smiled and said, “Marriage is normal the same as everyone else’s,” refusing to comment further. The singer got married to Daniel Ebo in December 29 in Nairobi.

Anyhow, Habida jetted out of the country to record with Dan Curtin, a German house DJ and producer. Her two-week trip will see her also work with yet another producer called Ramon Beine in Berlin before jetting back to Nairobi.
This is her attempt at breaking into the European market; already her single Get Down Tonight produced by R Kay is receiving massive airplay in various urban radio stations.
In an interview before she left, Habida said, “This trip is aimed at breaking into the European market. I will work with Dan Curtin, a German house DJ and producer; already two tracks where he has featured me have already been released.
“After working with him for a week I will head to Berlin where I will work with yet another producer called Ramon Beiene,” she said.
For the past ten years Dan has been one of the most eagerly observed producers in the techno scene, having forged a particularly distinctive and original musical style. He started up his own label, Metamorphic Recordings, on which he and like-minded artists showcased their own individual style.

In other news, Habida clarified that she has not relocated to Tanzania but is shuttling between Kenya and Tanzania where her hubby Daniel is currently working.
“I have been in Tanzania for three weeks and I will be traveling in between here and Tanzania. My visits to Tanzania gave me an opportunity to promote my music there I also did a couple of interviews with Clouds FM and EATV.”
Before leaving she dropped her latest single and video titled Get Down Tonight produced by R Kay.



“The song was inspired after I got my baby (Michaella Ayoka Ebo now three months shy of a year). I just had a baby. It was a hard pregnancy, the pain and following strict instructions by the doctors to protect my baby. When all this was done I felt like aaahhhh. The song is a representation of that.”
The video was shot by Willy Owusu of Big Ideas at Skylux where she plays a waitress who has had a long day.

HOMEBOYZ TO LAUNCH ARTISTE AGENCY

Entertainment house, Homeboyz will soon be launching and artiste agency to be headed by event organiser Situma Jones.
The agency dubbed VAT - Value Added Talent - will be a booking agency of choice for most musicians and entertainment practitioners in Kenya.
So far the acts signed up include Abbas Kubaff, Allan Aaron, Amani, Atemi Oyungu, Avril, Big Pin, Bobby Mapesa, Cannibal, Chizi, Collo, Daddy Owen, DNA, Eko Dydda, Eric Waninaina, Habida, Juacali, Longombas who are based in the UK and Marya among others.

HABIDA SPREADS HER SUNSHINE TO THE FOOTBALL PITCH

Sunshine lady Habida Moloney on Saturday took on a new role as the goodwill ambassador for a campaign that seeks to unite the youth through football.
Staged at the at the Langata High School, the first ever match of the Mugumoini Seven Aside tournament was attended by the staff members of InterContinental who are the sponsors, Habida’s fiancé Daniel Ebo and the singer herself.
“This has nothing to do with me being an artist. I just would like to be a part of something that makes a difference to our society. I help them in finding donations and or volunteer support,” Habida said of her role in the campaign.
The hotels Peer Educators took the opportunity to mingle and educate the youth on different social issues including the effects and prevention of HIV Aids during the two days. The hotel also donated the main Trophy for the winners of the tournament. was also at the event.

HABIDA TALKS ABOUT BEING A CELEB MUM

There is a new celebrity couple in town, the gorgeous Habida and International DJ and corporate honcho DJ Yush. The two will be joining the mummy and daddy club come June.
The four-month pregnant Habida explained why she made the decision to go public on her pregnancy was to reduce the pressure and speculation.
“There is a lot of pressure of telling everyone more so because I’m in the limelight. Like everyone else, I have always had a dream of being a mum and starting a family,” she said.
Asked if her adoring fans - who are predominantly male - would change the way they view her, not as a hot babe on stage but someone’s mum and fiancé. Habida who is popular for her hit song Sunshine that features Nameless said, “Nothing has changed but I hope my fans still look at me first as a human being.
“I’m still on track with my career in the music industry. The pregnancy will not change the timing of my debut album which was due out in, though I admit I can’t do as many shows as I would have liked.”

WAHU DOESN’T MIND HABIDA COLLABOING WITH HUBBY NAMELESS

Mtv Africa Music Award winner Nameless featured the very hot female act Habida in his single Sunshine.

Laughing, the MAMA award winner for Best Female Artiste Wahu said, “That is hilarious and a lot of people ask me that.”
Wahu and Nameless have been married for four years and have a daughter Tumiso.
“I think one of our best qualities in our marriage is that we are both in the same industry and I understand what the business is all about I understand this business. I’m not insecure and besides Habida is such a nice chick. I wish her all the best in terms of what she is doing musically.”
Wahu, who has always supported female entertainers added, “I always encourage women, I’m usually like, ‘Yeah, the more women in the industry the better’. As for me understanding the closeness in the video, it is the same way he understood when I did a collabo with Bobi Wine, I’m doing a collabo with AY and Nameless wouldn’t stand in my way or get insecure about that. Because he understands the business.”

SUNSHINE LADY HABIDA STOPS BAR SCUFFLE

Habida, the hottie who has collaboed with Nameless in the hit song Sunshine stopped a bar brawl a week ago.
The incident took place at Alfajiri on Denis Pritt Road where The Terminal, a house event was been hosted.
Habida said, “I don’t know the guy, but he was upset at the photographer who was taking his photos. The guest shoved the photographer twice that is when I intervened and tried to stop him. Already the photographer’s mouth was bleeding.”
Habida clarified just incase you think the dudes were fighting over her adding, ‘all I did was stop a fight. I don’t want this to reflect badly on me.’
