KBC’S BREAKFAST SHOW IS LAUNCHED

KBC Radio Taifa re-launched their breakfast show recently and the question on everyone’s lips is will this team make an impact? Well, it is up to the listeners to decide. The radio show on 92.9 KBC dubbed Zinga la Asubuhi comes every weekday from 5am to 10am with Bonny Musambi, Cynthia Anyango, Lijodi and Nyambane.

The Chairman of KBC Boards of Directors, Charles Muoki, The KBC MD, Waithaka Waihenya, The Minister for Information, Hon Poghisio and the Group Head of Radio, Mr. Walter Mongare Snr during the launch of Radio Taifa
Hot Secrets had a sit down with Walter Mongare also known as Nyambane who plays vitals roles for the station on and off air. On air he provides comic relief as the host, off air he takes on the coporate task as the head of radio. Here is his take on KBC’s new entry into the radio industry's breakfast segment and what the future holds in store for it.

What is new about the breakfast show?
For the first time KBC is doing personality driven by having Cynthia from Shaky FM Mombasa and Nyambane. The show has new jingles coupled with a new style of execution, new, new new. We have presented a new and variety packaging for the listener.

Who are the presenters on the show?
Bonny Musambi you know him from the Nuru soap advert, Cynthia Anyango, comedian Lijodi and my alter ego Nyambane

What should fans expect?
Fun and entertainment and above all accurate but credible news.

What was the show like before revamping it?
It was bila plan, bila identity and bila personalities, jingles and bites.
How is life as head of radio, generally?
It is challenging but rewarding an opportunity to grow products and relaunching others. So far, I have done Maasai and am launching three more stations in the next two months.

When you are not the boss at KBC what are you up to, projects etc?
Entertainment, emceeing and band and management. I also manage singer Linda Muthama's affairs which by the way is grown big time. She is doing the Safaricom Kenya Live tours as we speak as the official director and band trainer. The band backs Wyre, Wahu, Nameless, Juliani and Linda of course during the tours. Mine is to manage from a CEO point.

Anything else you would like to add?
KBC is the place to watch in terms of growth and creating more opportunities for talent in the media Industry. I have full support from the Management to the Board and of course the work force and the general public. I now have full understanding of what the public needs and what I have to offer. Nyambane's fans can finally celebrate that he is back on air and they can catch him on air and of course coming to a city near you.

NYAMBANE AND LINDA IN PRISON!

This time not for any wrong doing but to promote Home-based HIV testing and counseling among Prison Service staff members. Nyambane and Linda joined the Aids Control Unit (ACU) of Kenya Prison Services headed by Mrs. Mary Chepkonga, the Senior superintendent of prisons (SSP) Headquarters in Mombasa and the team is expected to visit all prisons Staff quarters countrywide to promote this methodology. The aim of this approach is to bring testing and counseling closer to the staff in the comfort of their homes as it gives families an opportunity to get to know their HIV status together and be able to support each other in ensuring that there is no anxiety when it comes to disclosure. The previous campaigns have centered around inmates but with the realization that the Staff are highly vulnerable. The Testing and counseling is being undertaken by The International Medical Corps. Nyambane and Linda have been undertaking HIV activations across the country and especially in Institutions of Higher Learning, highly populated areas and the most recent and successful campaign was together with USAID and the Ministry of Health and Sanitation during world cup where the campaign managed to get 1.2 million men tested with 4 weeks of the campaign.

The top KCPE boy in Nyanza who was reportedly going to miss out on joining secondary school due to lack of fees will not. Brian Osoro, an orphan and a former pupil of St Peters Kisii Academy who scored 429 marks should be thanking his lucky stars because comedian Nyambane has offered to pay his fee for the whole of his first year in school.
This comes after his Brian’s Aunt Mary Nyanchama expressed concern on The Star that he may not join secondary school because she is not able to pay his fees.

“I have committed to pay for the first one year once admissions have been done. I committed and pledged on radio. This is in line with what I have always done, supporting community and giving back. Besides Osoro, I have ten other children I support across the country,” he said.

Nyambane’s Altimate Investment Forum For Kenyans In Diaspora

Of late the focus has been on Kenyans in Diaspora more so with the economic analyst encouraging them to invest locally.
That, however isn’t a preserve of the Political leaders to woo our brothers and sisters - abroad to invest locally. Comedian and businessman Walter Mongare (Nyambane) is organizing a one month tour of the US, UK and Canada to encourage the Diaspora to invest locally.
This will be the 7th year Nyambane is involved in organizing events and forums in the US and UK. The previous Tours have involved artists Such as Churchill, Mzee Ojwang, Redykyulass, Musician Linda Muthama, Jabali Afrika and Sponsors such as MoneyGram, Postapay and Western Union.
This year’s tour will be sponsored by Kenya Commercial Bank, S&L Mortgages and the Developers Club among others.
This is a first in entertainment industry where an artist has mixed entertainment and really investment. Unlike other forums where Kenyans have been treated to oratory and verbal requests, Altimate’s forum will be taking the Bank loans and the actual properties to them. A number of Top Kenyan Artistes are tipped to join the Caravan to encourage the Diaspora to take advantage of the tour to grab available opportunities to get funds for investing locally.
If you are living abroad, this is the perfect opportunity for you to find out, how else you can contribute to the growth of our country. According to Nyambane, this will be a forum to entertain you, inform you and most importantly help you make that decision and empower you through the KCB partnership to own a property back home.
