FINAL FOUR PAGEANT HOPEFULS PICKED FOR MISS WORLD KENYA

The headhunt for Miss Nestea Kenya ended last Saturday with the crowning of four contestants from across the country in Nairobi’s Kawangware.
The four; Susan Onyango representing Githurai, Asha Bashir representing Kisii, Esther Gathoni Mukuhi representing Nakuru and Vivianne Cherono representing Eldoret now join other recruits to fight it out for Nestea Miss World Kenya next month.



The four were picked from a strong list of 20 contestants drown from thirteen locations spread across the country that include Kibera, Kayole, Kawangware, Githurai, Thika, Machakos, Mombasa, Narok, Nakuru, Eldoret, Kisumu and Kisii.



“We were not just looking at beauty, height and weight of the contestants but rather how they represent themselves in totality including intelligence, confidence and how they respond to questions,” said the reigning Miss World Kenya Natasha Metto, who was one of the judges.



Other judges included Nestle head of Equatorial Africa Region Pierre Trouilhat, senior fashion editor Crystal Okusa and grooming expert Gladys Akanja.

20-year-old Natasha Meto will represent Kenya at the 2010 Miss World event to be held in Sanya, China on October 31. Natasha beat 11 other beauties at the Saturday August 21 finals at the Braeburn Theatre.
“I have no words to express what I’m feeling,” was all the stunned beauty could say after the crowning. Second position went to Nderaisho Mshila while third went to Farida Diba, a former Ford Model finalist. The judges for the night included Miss World Kenya Franchise holder Terry Mungai, former model Tracy Ombajo, Survivor Africa contestant and model Derrick Asetto, Robert Derby and Sura Zuri modeling agency founder Lindsey McIntyre.

MISS WORLD KENYA CONTESTANTS FOR ANTI JIGGER CAMPAIGN IN GATUNDU

On Saturday August, the 12 finalists for the Miss World Kenya beauty pageant competition will be rolling up their sleeves, to wash off jiggers in Gatundu.
This will be part of the ongoing training and orientation for the beauties that are in the running for the crown. Tracy Ombajo, one if the judges for the competition told Hot Secrets, “This is part of the Beauty With A Purpose segment and at the end of it all they will learn what goes into supporting such a cause, how to fundraise for a cause and overall come away with the experiences gained from a worth cause such as the anti jigger campaign.”
Dr Stanley Kamau the founder of Ahadi Trust termed the visit by the beauty queens as milestone. “The campaign is been embraced by everyone and now more than ever, everyone wants to be identified with the cause.
"This will help us create more awareness. I would like to state that people should remove the notion the anti jigger fight is a Ahadi Trust thing, even the ladies who won’t win can still use the experience gained to fundraise and help eradicate the menace. The campaign is for everyone not only for me, Cecilia Mwangi and Jalango.”
