Kanumba’s Death Was Accidental- Tanzanian Elders
Elizabeth Lulu, Tanzanian actress, says Kanumba wanted to attack her with a panga during
a heated argument, after which he fell down and was unconscious. She then ran
for her life, only to get news that Kanumba had died.
Elders have leaped to her defence as she is being charged with killing bongo movie star
Steven Kanumba in April 2012 who was her then-lover.
A council of elders says according to the hearing of the
case, Lulu did not kill Kanumba intentionally.
After Kanumba’s death, Lulu was detained for almost half a
year. Her case was finally heard last week, and it took five days.
The next hearing will be on November 13.
Why Tina Kaggia And JB Masanduku’s Marriage Fell Apart
This is very evident in many couples these days. Failed
marriages and divorces are tremendously increasing. Why does this happen?
Once the couple faces intense fights and bigger problems,
they tend to weaken and try to avoid these predicaments. They do not do some
serious talking hence they slowly stop loving each other.
Another reason why marriages fail is the lack of spontaneity
in the relationship of the married couple. Everything else is in routine and
both the husband and wife will fail to have the excitement they once felt when
they exchanged their vows. Intimacy lacks its spice and it essentially creates
a gap between the two lovebirds.
Last year, radio Presenter Tina Kaggia left her matrimonial
home after breaking up with her husband comedian Nathan Kimani aka JB
Masanduku.
No one knew why the two lovebirds
decided to call it quits. Luckily, we can now have some insight as Ms.
Kaggia has come out to reveal exactly what happened.
According to Nairobi News, Ms. Kaggia revealed that her
marriage had at some point made her feel suicidal. She confessed how JB
Masanduku neglected her, manipulated and served her with constant lies.
Apparently, the anger, made her crumble inside and she
started drinking heavily. Her father tried to intervene and guide the couple
but nothing changed. Tina ended up taking a break from radio because of
depression.
I disappeared for four months because I needed medical
attention for depression; I was suicidal at this point.
She says she is now feeling better, although she still
battles with insomnia. The former mid-morning show host at Classic 105 is now
in the process of finalizing her divorce.

KAHC, PERAK and entertainment industry strike new deal on copyright tariff.
The Kenya Association of Hotel
keepers and Caterers (KAHC), their regional affiliate bodies, the Pubs
Entertainment and Restaurants Association of Kenya (PERAK), and the collective
Management Organizations(CMO’S) announced a new agreement regarding tariffs
and payment methods for the background use of musical work, sound recordings
and audio visual works.
This
follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding. The MOU Captures the
re-negotiated tariff principle based on a percentage of the single business
permit (SBP) and where applicable the liquor license (LL) based on the county in
which the business operates in.
“The
MOU is in response to the concerns raised after a gazette notice published in
April 2017. Stakeholders and the relevant CMO’s were hosted by Kenya Copyright Board
(KECOBO), to renegotiate the music royalty tariffs payable specifically for the
use of background music by the members
of these associations and develop a more professional efficient method of
collection,” said KAHC CEO, Mike
Macharia.
The
deal was reached between Pubs Entertainment and Restaurants Association of
Kenya (PERAK), the Kenya Association of Hotel Keepers and Caterers (KAHC) their
regional affiliate bodies and the Collective Management Organizations(CMO’S)
regarding tariffs and payment methods for the background use of musical work,
sound recordings and audio visual works.
Every
establishment that engages in the background use of musical works, sound
recordings, and audio visual works in their premises will be expected to pay
the amount captured in the invoice raised,” PERAK Chairman, Patrick Muya stated.
“Compliance
is mandatory and each user is obligated by law to make a payment towards the
use for the benefit of the owners of the rights in the content. These
negotiations and subsequent MOU seeks to ensure a significant increase in
compliance and collections for the members of the CMO’s,” added Performers Rights Society of Kenya, chairlady Iddi
Achieng.
Invoices
will be issued by the CMO’s to the respective business and they will have a
period of fourteen (14) days to settle the invoice. Failure to pay within this
window of compliance will result in strict penalties and the initiation of an
enforcement procedure as per the attached document.
“As
part of our continued commitment to an improved efficient and transparent
collection and distribution process, the three CMO’s have planned to transition
from the current manual process and automate the licensing process to enable
music users pay for the license to use music,” said Chairman MPAKE Bernard
Kioko.
“Members
should note that this pilot process will take immediate effect and that an
implementation committee representing both the BMO’S and CMO’s has been formed
to further clarify any issues that may arise” added Justus Ngemu Chairman KAMP.
As
a result of this MOU, the BMO’s and CMO’s will carry out a countrywide
awareness campaign on the new tariff changes.

'I Know What You Did Last Summer' Turns 20: Ryan Phillippe Reveals What You Didn't See On Screen
Jennifer Love
Hewitt, Sarah
Michelle Gellar, Ryan
Phillippe, and Freddie
Prinze Jr. — in the crosshairs of a yellow-slicker wearing,
fishhook-wielding revenge seeker.
Prepare to feel old, children of the ’90s. The 1997 horror
hit I Know What You Did Last Summer celebrates its 20th birthday Oct.
17. That’s one year shy of legal drinking age, but the movie could get behind
the wheel of a car. That may not be such a great idea, though, because the
film’s horror hijinks are set in motion by an automobile accident, one that
claims the life of an ordinary pedestrian and putting his teenage killers —
played by era-defining stars
As Phillippe told Yahoo Entertainment during a Facebook Live
talk earlier this year, there were some off-camera driving errors committed
during production as well — though thankfully with less deadly consequences.
“One night Sarah Michelle and I decided to take my rental car on the beach,”
the actor recalls. “We ended up getting stuck in a sand dune and having to call
a tow truck in the middle of the night — all in fear of the producers finding
out and we’d be fired!” (Watch the clip from our interview above.)
Sand-dune traps aside, Phillippe describes the I Know
What You Did Last Summer set as a dream environment for a young actor. “I
just remember us four being so excited we were making a studio movie. That was
my dream as a 13-year-old — to see myself on the big screen.” Released one year
after the original Scream reinvigorated the horror genre in America,
audiences were primed to, well, scream along with the absurdly attractive
cast. In real life, Gellar and Prinze — who plays Hewitt’s boyfriend in
the film — later fell in love and married, but Phillippe doesn’t recall any
inkling of that romance starting on set. “There wasn’t really a sense of that
then, but I think it’s really cool and sweet that they ended up together.”

Twitter Bigwig Caught Emptying his balls At House Party
A local Twitter bigwig and blogger who is a well-known skirt
chaser was recently caught pants down, about to empty his balls.
The tall and dark blogger for hire was invited to a party in
Muthiga area with one of his female friends who has been eyeing him for quite a
while last week.
Just like any other fisi, the lad did not turn down the
offer, and he arrived at the venue, parked his car and went ahead to wine and
dine with revellers.
But as everyone was enjoying the revelry, the loud-mouthed
blogger was busy salivating over his friend's girlfriend and within no time, he
had already taken her number and they went to her house to quench their thirst.
Before the boy child could even start pumping, his friend
who invited him to the party walked in on them. She had a melt down that
attracted a lot of attention.

Username Investment Issues Over 700 Titles To New Land Owners
Real Estate company, Username Investment Limited, is encouraging Kenyan youth to safeguard their future by investing in property.
As part of its growth strategy, the company is keen to tap
into the youth market by offering products at affordable prices.
“We are aware of the challenges that still remain, such as
access to finance by many potential homeowners, especially low-income groups.
One of our aspirations is to ensure that over the next five years, we settle as
many youth as possible into home ownership,” said Username Investment CEO,
Reuben Kimani.
Speaking during title issuance ceremony held at the Haven-Konza
in Kajiado County, Kimani noted the company’s commitment to ensuring that
buyers get value for their money.
The company, which today issued about 700 titles to land
owners of its various projects says the company is committed to providing Strategic,
quality and affordable products and services that create value for all
investors.
“This being the second title issuance ceremony this year
proves that Username Investment delivers on our promises, built on our
foundation of trustworthiness at a time when the property market is ridden with
fraud unscrupulous businessmen “he said.
Statistics from the Ministry of Land indicate that there
have been about 7,052 cases of property fraud, which has been made worse by
unscrupulous businessmen colluding with professionals mandated to ensure no fraud.
The Ministry further highlighted that the scams could be
costing the economy Kshs60 billion annually. This is the estimated cash that
the government loses in land rates, court cases and lost investment
opportunities when disputed land lies idle.
The CEO further encouraged Kenyans to purchase land through
reputable property ownership companies.
Kenyans have to also grapple with the rising cost of land
mostly caused by speculation, which is making it impossible for many to own
property and eventually homes “At Username Investment, we pride ourselves in
making land affordable and therefore accessible for Kenyans from all walks of life.
We are currently offering our customers a choice of a variety of parcels of
land from as low as Kshs179, 000 for an eighth of an acre.” said the CEO.
He also said that the company was committed to providing value-added
land, which includes amenities such as borehole, perimeter fence and internal
access roads.
Username Investment says it will continue to invest in parcels
of land that are affordable, strategic, of value to its clients and play its
role in restoring confidence in the process of land ownership in the country.
“By creating secure access to land, Username Investment is
playing its role towards Vison 2030’s goals to ensure affordable housing for
all Kenyans by 2030. Username Investment is doing its part in ensuring that
Kenyans have a chance to build sustainable communities through developments in
agriculture, infrastructure and the promotion of equal rights of women, minorities
and vulnerable groups,” said Kimani.
