Decimal Records officially re-launched at the Michael Joseph Centre,
Safaricom House in an event hosted by record label executives: Musyoka and
Bon’eye. They unveiled the label’s newly signed artistes: Brian Nadra, Konkodi
and Jack Rooster and their the brand new careers, including that of Bon’eye’s.
The
event hosted by Kenya's beloved media personality Kalekye Mumo was
graced by Nairobi's top media, celebrities and industry stakeholders.
Guests included Sauti Sol, Frasha, Calvo Mistari, Collo, Nyashinksi,
Nonini, Provoke, Habida, Blaze, June Gachui, Naiboi, Athur K, Chris
Adwar, Amos and Josh and Bruce Odhiambo, among many others including the
family and friends of the Decimal Records team members.
Speaking soon after the launch,
Eric Musyoka, Founder and Partner at Decimal Records said, “It’s been 20 years
since the idea of Decimal was born so at 20 we have the know-how and can relate
to the old school and new era of music business. And with Bon’eye, Brian Nadra,
Konkodi and Jack Rooster – the goal is to produce quality and great music and
see them reap the fruits of their success in music business.” Partner at
Decimal Records, Bon’eye adds, “Kenya has been at the top in the industry
severally and the new faces at Decimal Records are the ones to push the agenda
to produce the next generation of creative and business-oriented artistes.”
The
label unveiled to guests the newly revamped label by presenting their
new documentary on the journey of Decimal Records at 20, it highlighted
some of Musyoka's hit records and monumental collabos with artistes like
Nonini and P-UNIT. Bon'eye, Brian Nadra, Konkodi and Jack Rooster then
performed their new and also unreleased records together with a live
band. The Decimal Band directed by Musyoka also honoured Kenyan music by
playing a medley of classics from the old school E-Sir era to the hits
of today.
With the advancement of
technology and rise of digital media, the music business is shifting and
artistes are now becoming more entrepreneurial and as such Decimal Records is
banking on this to advance the music industry. Their mission is to also put
Kenya on the map as an entertainment hub, producing quality artistes into
Africa and the globe. Setting the tone and spearheading a new generation of
artistes, the new Decimal Records is in sync with the ever-changing music
generation, platforms and opportunities.
