Rapper Gethi Kimotho has released a new single that castigates domestic violence titled The Epidemic.
He raps, "Aliambiwa mapenzi ni tamu but tamaa ilifanya aexperience kitu so different... (She was told love is sweet but greed made her experience something different)"
Using clever wordplay and catchy punchlines done in a mix of Swahili and the widely used 'Sheng' language, The Epidemic tells the story of a young girl who is sent to an uncle for the holidays and this ends in disaster.
"It describes her ordeal and the tragic ending. A vice that sadly is slowly becoming part of our society. Rape and gender based violence," Gethi says, "A vice we should all stand against."
