Radio And Weasel's New Year Resolution Is Set!

Uganda's controversial duo have turned a new leaf.

Well, they have said they will stop all the "publicity stunts" and focus on producing good music.

That seems to be their 2014 resolution.

Here is what Radio & Weasel posted on thier Facebook page: "Artists should sing good music for the public and stop scheming publicity stunts to seek attention.

"It doesn't build the game. This year we reconciled with Bebe cool and have a good relationship the Chameleone. We have no beef with any artists and expect no foolery."

Edi was been cast in a major recurring roles on the upcoming fifth season of FX/Sony TV’s drama series Justified.

According to Deadline.com, Edi will play Jean Baptiste, a Haitian criminal in the employ of the Crowe family.

The villain in charge of the Crowe family gator farm, he’s a former member of the Haitian secret police and has a coldly merciless attitude when it comes to disposing of both gators and humans.

Kenyan actress based in Hollywood, Lupita who’s garnered a Golden Globe nomination for 12 Years a Slave has the people at Vogue all starstruck.

Vogue has named her to their annual best-dressed list as “One to Watch in 2014.”

Vogue describes Lupita, as one who "stole every red-carpet heart this fall with her clean silhouettes, close-cropped coif and ear-to-ear smile. The 12 Years a Slave star brought the same radiance and poise to her wardrobe as her Golden Globe–nominated performance."

On the list, Lupita is joined by Suki Waterhouse, a British model and actress and Rnb singer Ciara.

CNN To Launch A New TV Show For Africa

CNN International will launch a new TV show titled African Start-Up, which joins the existing African Voices, CNN Marketplace Africa and Inside Africa programs.

The new series, airing as a weekly segment and then bi-monthly as a half hour special, follows several SME (small and medium-sized enterprise) entrepreneurs in various African countries to see how they’re working to make their dreams become reality.

It explores how they generate their ideas, formulate business plans, raise capital and distribute their products. The entrepreneurs take viewers through their daily challenges, charting both the setbacks and the opportunities that exist for those with the vision and creativity to try something new.

So far they have featured Kenyan businessman Ritesh Doshi, a former investment banker with a thriving pizza business in the Kenyan capital.

The weekly segment is set to air in January 2014.

Mandela Tribute Song Named The Most Downloaded Ringtone!

A free memorial single, released in honour of late anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela has been named the most downloaded caller tune in one single day.

The cut, titled 'Tribute to Mandela' and released by Nigerian singer-songwriter Harrysong, amassed a record one million downloads in one single day.

'Tribute to Mandela' was released on Wednesday December 11, just six days after the South African freedom fighter who spent 27 years in jail before emerging the country's first black president passed on at 95.

Harrysong's single is one of the dozens of tribute songs released in the aftermath of Mandela's passing and is being offered for free for now.

According to official figures released today, Harrysong's single, available solely on MTN (Nigeria's dominant telecoms player with over 56 million subscribers) has recorded over 2million caller tunes download so far. And pundits say the rising singer's cut has 'smashed all records'.

Original Video Of Rapper Rigga's Proposal To Girlfriend In Church

Gospel rapper Charles Rigga on an October 21st Sunday morning proposed to his fiancée Saiton Tameno during the 9am service at Mavuno Church in Nairobi.

The artiste got a "Yes" from Saiton after which the senior pastor Muriithi Wanjau prayed for the newly engaged couple.

The gospel singer's friend took to Twitter to congratulate him.

"Congrats!" Marcus Olang' wrote, "In a world where men hardly ever propose, this here @Riggaman put his ego on the line. Alinguruma, akasikika. I celebrate you, brother."

According to Saiton's online profile, she is a digital strategist and have worked for clients such as Safaricom, UAP, Venus Kenya, Old Mutual, Huawei, Kijiji Entertainment and Mavuno Church among others. She is also interested in music management and marketing.

Anyhow, the video of the actua proposal has been posted online.

Wilbroda Disses "Snobish" Comedian

Queen of TV comedy just told off a certain "comedian with snobbish behaviours".

Jacquey 'Wilbroda' Nyaminde took to her Facebook page to narate how one Kenyan comedian hired a bodyguard to keep enthusuastic fans from "disturbing him".

She wrote: "I happened to bump into a popular comedian friend of mine the other day in a club. He came and said hi very hastily then went and sat at a dark corner not far away from us yet there was space on our table. He had a bouncer next to him and nobody could get close."

He added, "His reason for this was because he did not want the 'public' to disturb him. It just got me thinking the public that you now run away from made you who you are! And if you don't want public disturbance then open a club in your own house!!!"

Miss Kenya And Miss Somalia To Battle It Out In Exquisite Face Of The Universe

 

 The Exquisite Face Of The Universe 2013 preliminary rounds saw a plethora of fine creations as contestants presented themselves in curvaceous gowns and daring swimming suits during the competitions.

The swimwear competition took place at the Eko Hotel & Suites poolside. Most of the contestants donned vibrant shades of pink, green, aqua blue and orange bikinis. 

The evening gown competition was held at the Porsche Centre Lagos where the Exquisite Face Of The Universe 2013 contestants showed off their curvaceous bodies in bold and bright bespoke gowns. 

Miss Nigeria, Miss Dominican Republic and Miss Colombia stood out in their colourful ensembles of orange, green and fuchsia pink.

The grand finale of the Exquisite Face Of The Universe fifth edition will take place on Thursday December 19 at the prestigious Eko Hotel & Suites when a contestant will be crowned the Exquisite Face Of The Universe 2013.

Contestants will be judged based on beauty, personality, talent and intelligence.

He has a decade of performing and recording underground music under his belts. Gas Fyatu is known for doing socially conscious music that empowers the community. The Ukoo Flani Mau Mau star is back with a remake of a Kenyan Classic.

Joining forces with Jomenes Boys Band, the rapper has released the hit single Nyatigli.

His press statement describes the single as one for a "party after work".

" I teamed up with Robin who is a studio engineer at Subsahara and recorded the song this was during a party at the studio,"Gas Fyatu said.

"Big Soul the producer, asked us to join him in the studio, the following morning when we were all sober. He played us the song and we discovered we had a hit single which is currently taking clubs by storm."

Tiwa Savage Gets Gig To Host 2013's Hip Hop Awards!

Sensational singer Tiwa Savage and Dr Sid, have been announced as hosts for the 2013 edition of The Headies – Nigeria’s biggest and most prestigious music awards.

The Headies 2013 will be held on Boxing Day, December 26 at the Ground Ball Room of the Oriental Hotel, Lekki, Lagos.

Now in its 8th year, The Headies (also known as the HipHopWorld Awards) is Nigeria’s premiere honours event for urbane music and hip hop culture.  

According to the organizers of the awards, both artistes have been selected in line with the awards’ tradition of picking talented and inspiring entertainers, to host the awards ceremony which parades some of the continent’s biggest entertainers.
