A showcase of the top entertainers in the country will take center stage at the newly launched Safaricom Sevens Series as the Niko na Safaricom Live artistes will headline the after-party during the main tournament to held at Kasarani.
Kenya’s favourite, Dj Kaytrixx will also be the main act at the after-parties to be held in the local Sevens circuit set to kick off in Kisumu early next month.
Kenyan youth, a major target for music and sports, will this year be treated to a spectacular sports and music show as part of Safaricoms’ goals to reach the youth who make up a majority of their consumers.
The Telco’s involvement in the fastest growing sport has been further cemented after Safaricom’s announcement of a new three year deal with the Kenya Rugby Union worth Kshs. 140 Million.
“Safaricom is committed to positively impacting the lives of young Kenyans. In the coming months they should not only expect high energy performances from the rugby boys but should also look forward to world class entertainment after the games,” said Bob Collymore, Safaricom CEO.
This year’s Sevens Series will include the local sevens circuit with a theme of ‘the hunt is on’ that aims at vigorous training to see the team qualify for Olympics and win medals. This follows an announcement that rugby will now be under the Olympics category.
This year, Sevens will include the local sevens circuit; it will kick off with Dala Sevens Kisumu to be held on August 3rd & 4th, followed by Kabeberi Sevens in Nairobi on August 10th &11th. Nakuru will host Prinsloo Sevens on 24th & 25th August with Driftwoods Sevens taking place in Mombasa on 31st August and 1st September. The Christie Sevens which will close the regional circuit will take place in Nairobi on September 7th and 8th before the Safaricom 7’s takes centre stage at its new venue on September 20th to 22nd.
