German director Tom Tykwer who was part of the production of the hit Kenyan movie Nairobi Half Life is set to be honoured with a special retrospective of his work at the upcoming Zurich Film Festival in Switzerland.

Tom who co produced the film joined Kenyan director Tosh Gitonga on set of the Kenyan thriller. Tom will be feted with screenings of his works Run Lola Run, Perfume: The Story of a Murderer, Winter Sleepers and Heaven during the annual event, which will take place from 20 to 30 September.

Tykwer, who served triple duty as writer, producer and director of his new film Cloud Atlas, will also turn lecturer to conduct a master class for budding filmmakers on 28 September.

Cloud Atlas, starring Tom Hanks and Halle Berry, is based on author David Mitchell's 2004 adventure novel of the same name and is due to be released later this year. Previous recipients of the Zurich Film Festival tribute have included Oscar winners such as Roman Polanski and Paul Haggis.

This year’s festival will also see Richard Gere receive the Golden Icon award, while John Travolta will be honoured with the Golden Eye award before the opening night screening of Savages and Jerry Weintraub will receive the career achievement award.
