RNB STAR ANTHONY DAVID IN KENYA FOR LOUNGE UNPLUGGED

American RnB singer and songwriter Anthony David jetted into the country on Wednesday May 4 ahead of his show on Saturday night at the Nairobi National Park.

This is Anthony's second trip to Africa and he is excited about it. He will headline the concert in the wild dubbed The Lounge Unplugged. Anthony is known for his hit Words featuring India Arie. He has four albums so far. Anthony's fourth album - released on February 22 - is titled As Above So Below which features guest vocalists Algebra, rapper Phonte from Little Brother and Anthony's cousin Shawn Stockman of R&B super group Boys II Men.

Anthony will perform alongside Elani, a local group that has been making inroads in the music scene. The Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter is US President Obama's favourite new artiste. Often described as the heir-apparent to his early influence Bill Withers, David is elbowing a space for intelligent lyrics and a grown man's voice in a scene that's in a race to be young. A student of Wither's lyricism; the masculine rhythms of Beres Hammond and Frankie Beverly; the storytelling of Slick Rick and Jay-Z; and the blues of Lightning Hopkins, Howling Wolf, and T-Bone Walker, David is ushering back the kind of masculine soul that men can identify with and that ladies can nestle up to.
