JIMMY CARTER IN SUDAN FOR 5 DAY VISIT
Jimmy Carter, former US President and Chairman of Carter Center, arrived in Khartoum on Monday for a five day visit. Head of the Center’s Field Office in Sudan, Graham Alison, told Miraya FM that Carter will spend two days in Khartoum and two days in Juba. In Khartoum, Carter will meet with President Basher, the National Election Commission (NEC) and politicians from different parties. In Juba, Carter's main purpose will be to launch a health program for southern Sudan..
The Carter Center has been present in Sudan since 2008, at the invitation of the Sudanese government, to observe the country's electoral process.
