SPOTLIGHT ON KENYAN MUSIC 2009



This event promises solid entertainment with the best of Spotlight music and established afro-fusion musicians while continuing to develop and promote Kenyan afro-fusion music

2009 Spotlight on Kenyan music programme is a consolidation of the gains made over the last 4 years. Deserving musicians, those who have shown ability, self-belief, passion and determination, will receive additional support in 2009 to further expose and promote their music.
Artists selected for this support in 2009 are: George Mutinda, Makadem, Alai K, Ingosi Jnr, Peter Wambugu, Juma Tutu, Michel Ongaro (2005), Ronald Ontiri, Zippy Okoth, Sauti, Teto Tutuma (2006), Cheptab, Benta Agenga, Doris Chepchumba (2007) and Ben Kisinja & Chebin Band, Bismilahi Gargar, Katana bin Kalama, Koko Band, Walter Koga, Fadhili Itulya (2008).

Spotlight on Kenyan music continues to showcase refreshing Kenyan talent and musical riches while at the same time celebrating the country’s musical and cultural diversity through the most democratic of art forms that is music.

This Friday’s concert will feature Makadem, Benta Ageng’a (the Lizard) and Cheptab (who has just released here first album ‘Tilenyun’) who will be joined by afro-fusion maestro Abbi.
