MISS WORLD KENYA CONTESTANTS FOR ANTI JIGGER CAMPAIGN IN GATUNDU

On Saturday August, the 12 finalists for the Miss World Kenya beauty pageant competition will be rolling up their sleeves, to wash off jiggers in Gatundu.
This will be part of the ongoing training and orientation for the beauties that are in the running for the crown. Tracy Ombajo, one if the judges for the competition told Hot Secrets, “This is part of the Beauty With A Purpose segment and at the end of it all they will learn what goes into supporting such a cause, how to fundraise for a cause and overall come away with the experiences gained from a worth cause such as the anti jigger campaign.”
Dr Stanley Kamau the founder of Ahadi Trust termed the visit by the beauty queens as milestone. “The campaign is been embraced by everyone and now more than ever, everyone wants to be identified with the cause.
"This will help us create more awareness. I would like to state that people should remove the notion the anti jigger fight is a Ahadi Trust thing, even the ladies who won’t win can still use the experience gained to fundraise and help eradicate the menace. The campaign is for everyone not only for me, Cecilia Mwangi and Jalango.”

Former Miss Kenya Cecilia Mwangi and Dr Stanley Kamau meet with the Parliamentary Health Committee on Tuesday, July 6.
The Goodwill Ambassador of Ahadi Kenya Trust and the CEO presented the committee with some of the serious effects of jiggers in Kenya including it’s effects like children dropping out of school, spread of HIV Aids and the inability of people in exercising their democratic rights.
In return the committee promised to join them in the field on one of their public eradication camps as well as work at a partnership between the trust and the Public Health and Medical Services.
Anyho, if you are wondering why i just added Dr. in front of Stanley Kamau's name? It's because on Saturday he was honored with a Doctorate Degree from American University, Gretsa, for the fight against jiggers in East Africa.

AHADI TRUST TAKES ANTI-JIGGER WAR TO TANZANIA

In the steep hills of Kioge in Arusha, Tanzania, jiggers are viewed as evil, something akin to a bad omen. This is set to change as the Maasai’s who live in the area were recently taught how to eradicate the menace by the visiting anti-jigger campaigners. Kenyan beauty queen Cecilia Mwangi and Ahadi Trust CEO Stanley Kamau officially launched their campaign in Tanzania last Friday accompanied by members of the Fourth Estate from the two East African countries.
“Kioge will be the centre for the fight to eradicate jiggers in Tanzania,” Stanley told the congregation at the Kioge Assemblies of God church and promised to donate shoes once the treatment is complete.
Former Miss World Kenya admitted that stigma is still an issue. “Not everyone admits they have jiggers; most people try to hide it. But I must say that the level of acceptance in Tanzania is higher as this group waited from morning till evening for us to arrive.”
The anti-jigger posse braved muddy roads and steep climbs up hill to finally get to their destination. This is a step towards taking the anti-jigger eradication campaign to the wider East African region. Last month, the campaign also launched in Uganda.

ANTI-JIGGER CAMPAIGNER TO TAKE OVER YOUTH FUND OFFICE?

The street is riff with reports that the Anti Jigger Campaigner Stanley Kamau is in ‘deep talks’ with the relevant officials on taking up office as the chairman of the controversy laden Youth Enterprise Development Fund.
Stanley who also works with former miss World Kenya Cecilia Mwangi and Kiss 100’s Jalango was cagey about the details.
“I wouldn’t mind heading the Youth Fund as long as it doesn’t affect my anti Jigger campaign,” The Ahadi Trust CEO said.
Asked if the jigger ambassadors will also get offices in the Youth Fund, Stanley said, “No, this is a very separate entity all together.”
This reports come at a time when the Youth Fund Board resigned en mass after an eight-month battle against Youth and Sports minister Hellen Sambili.
