TITO JACKSON IS AN HONORARY KENYAN

Kenya’s Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga appointed Tito Jackson the U.S. Ambassador to Kenya for the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation (J.O.O.F.) and Honorary Citizen of Kenya. Tito’s role will be to create and develop projects and events to bring global awareness to the organization and its initiative in Kenya.
The appointment was made on April 16, 2011, as a national spokesman for J.O.O.F. he will work in collaboration with Kenyan Ambassador Dr. Wenwa Akinyi Oranga along with the J.O.O.F. Board of Directors. The new U.S. office of J.O.O.F. is based in Los Angeles, CA, the same location of the consulate where Ambassador Dr. Wenwa operates.



One of many projects already in development is an annual concert event that will serve as a fundraiser for health initiatives and the children of Kenya, where he and his band will perform.
"I am incredibly honored and humbled to be named J.O.O.F. Ambassador and Honorary Citizen of Kenya by Prime Minister Odinga," says Tito Jackson. "I look forward to tackling the important issues of health and education in this east African country. Kenya is battling a number of life-threatening diseases including HIV/AIDS, which has always been an important cause for my family and me. Through a combination of education and resources these health issues can be prevented. There is a lot of work to be done and I can't think of a better organization than J.O.O.F. to spearhead the effort, so I am extremely proud and grateful to be a part of this lifesaving foundation."



The Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation (J.O.O.F.) is a non-profit organization that conceives, develops and facilitates philanthropic and welfare programs for the disadvantaged in Kenyan society.
"We are absolutely delighted to honor Tito with this prestigious ambassadorship,"says J.O.O.F. Board of Trustees member and TV television personality April Sutton. "We couldn't think of a better individual to represent global unity and global awareness for the children of Kenya, and we look forward to what he will be able to contribute to J.O.O.F. as a world-class entertainer, humanitarian and now an official ambassador."

MARTHA KARUA ADDS VOICE TO JAL AND JULIANI”S SONG

The MP for Gichugu Martha Karua has pledged her support for Emmanuel Jal’s We Want Peace (WWP) campaign. She recorded her bit at the Click Track Studios, Nairobi on February 4, 2011. “This is a positive campaign and any serious leader would embrace it,” she said enthusiastically.
Martha an ardent user of the social media, said she was approached by Jal through Facebook.



On accepting his request, they had fruitful discussions. She recorded her contribution under the guidance of Juliani, a popular gospel artist. The video recording is set to take place some time in April. Yes, she wrote her own verse, and yes, it had the appropriate sheng and slang words, thank you.



In 2011, WWP announced its latest transition focusing on tribalism. Other leaders who have pledged their support to the noble cause include Prime Minister Raila Odinga, businessman, Jimnah Mbaru and Sudanese SPLM leader Yasir Arman.
As a presidential aspirant, Martha hopes to garner support nationwide, and her role in the campaign will give her much needed national appeal.



Launched in December 2010, the WWP campaign has received high profile endorsement from international celebrity musicians, politicians and businessmen, including Alicia Keys, George Clooney, Kofi Annan, Peter Gabriel and Richard Branson, all of whom feature in Jal's epic We Want Peace music video.
Spearheaded by global hip hop sensation, actor, author and activist Emmanuel Jal, WWP has made a memorable mark in many parts of East Africa and the world, with the popular sing along debut, also titled, We Want Peace.

Kenya’s premier Arsenal supporter the Prime Minister himself on Wednesday night pushed the boat out to support his favourite team play (and sadly lose) in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.
The PM, his son Fidel, his brother the assistant minister of finance Oburu Odinga and Medical Services Minister Anyang Nyong’o booked a table at Gipsy Westland’s oldest upmarket watering hole, beloved spot of amongst others cabinet colleague Moses Wetangula and former Trade Minister Mukhisa Kituyi. MP Nick salat also enjoys the occasional night out at the same bar.
Our tipster says the group was seated upstairs at the dining area. They had called ahead to have a table reserved. However, the group who are staunch Arsenal supporters left defeated as Man-U trounced the Gunners.
