Kakuma’s Finest; Akuot And Scoobylincos Are Set To Be Unveiled At A Launch Concert



Two of Kakuma’s finest; Akuot and Scoobylincos are set to be unveiled at a launch concert on the 08th December at Kakuma, Turkana County. The one-day event is set to attract key stakeholders and humanitarian workers in Kakuma and will include mass outreach, musical performances from Akuot, Scoobylincos and guest performance by Wyre.

The event will also act as a launching pad for Akuot and Scoobylincos singles “Anavyonifanya” and “Kazi Tu” respectively. The two singles were co-produced by Wyre and Herbalist and have been receiving massive airplay on various radio and TV stations.
Speaking on the upcoming launch, Akuot says “I am so excited that we are finally showing our fans in Kakuma, what we have been up to in the past couple of months. It has been an exciting journey for me as an artist and I thank FilmAid and Wyre for walking with me on this musical journey.”

Following the success of their collaboration on the promotion of the World Food Programme “Bamba Chakula”, FilmAid and Kevin Waire (Wyre), a renowned music artist in Kenya, have once again come together to promote and nurture talents for the youths in Turkana through the “Finding a Star” Project. 

The project currently on a pilot phase seeks to engage two talented artists and FilmAid’s Media students under the Filmmaking, Journalism, photography and entrepreneurship training program. The project will also empower the youth’s from Kakuma economically through training on music composition, video production, music journalism (Entertainment PR) and industry driven promotion that focuses on uplifting livelihoods, skills development and entrepreneurship for refugee and host community.

Speaking on the project, FilmAid Creatives and Content Director, Rodgers Otieno says. “We are thrilled to be working with a talented and legendary artist such as Wyre to help nurture and give hope to the young talented youth in Kakuma.

This is just but the beginning of a great journey that will see both host and refugees get to explore their talent beyond the borders.”
