"LIRA: The Captured Tour - Concert Film" (Otarel Music/Sony Africa) resulting from her nationwide sold-out 2011 Captured Tour. In promoting her gold certified fourth album, Return to Love, the singer embarked on her biggest selling tour to date. While on the road, her newly established production company, ARIL Films shot for over three months leading up to her final concert at the Sun City Superbowl.
Decked out in some of South Africa's most notable fashion designers: Sylvester Falata, 46664, Erol Arenz and Stoned Cherrie, LIRA takes the stage to belt out 38 songs including her classic tunes "Feel Good," "Ixesha," "Phakade," "Hamba," "Believer," and "Valley of Darkness" as well as paying homage to her musical influences with Labi Siffre's "Something Inside (So Strong)," Sade's "Sweetest Taboo" and Miriam Makeba's "Pata Pata." LIRA also performs her poignant track "Change it All" which will appear as the theme music in Oprah's Winfrey forthcoming OWLAG, a documentary surrounding her Leadership Academy for Girls based in South Africa.
More then just a live performance DVD, the concert film shows the magic of Lira at her finest - on stage as well as her personal journey through her touring memories, including unique backstage access, trials and tribulations and four super fans who have their own dedicated sections. From LIRA's amazing vocal prowess to her stage work, dancing and choreography – this is visual and sonic masterpiece at a world class level. Sharing the stage with her is her all star LOVE Band with special moments including two South African celebrated guest artists. The DVD will be packaged with a 20-song CD soundtrack and an additional Blu-Ray release on October 29th.
The release is expected to be an even larger success than her 2009 telecast LIRA; Live a Celebration which was tuned in by nine million South Africans, subsequently the DVD and Africa's first Blu-Ray went on to secure 3x multi-platinum certification becoming the country's fastest and highest selling music videodisc, supplanting international diva Celine Dion's reign at the top: Live in Las Vegas; A New Day.
In recent months, global media outlets have been taking notice of LIRA, with a 2012 BET nomination for Best International Act, named Five Unique Artists Set to Change Music in 2012 by Essence Magazine and featured in the Re-Branding Africa issue of the Italian Men's fashion magazine, L'Uomo Vogue. With LIRA: The Captured Tour - A Concert Film the world can now fully experience one of Africa's brightest stars - delineating her evolution and prowess as an icon in the making.
