EXCITEMENT BUILDING AS EAST AFRICA’S NUMBER ONE MUSIC FESTIVAL DRAWS CLOSER


The 9th edition of the annual Sauti za Busara music festival in Zanzibar is scheduled to take place from 8 – 12 February 2012.
After receiving over 600 applications to participate from artists in more than sixty countries, around 31 groups were selected to perform on the main stage in Zanzibar’s Old Fort.
Previous years editions have featured renowned acts such as:-
Samba Mapangala and Orchestra Virunga (DRC/ Kenya),
Bi Kidude (Tanzania),
Thandiswa (South Africa),
Bassekou Kouyate (Mali) and Didier Awadi (Senegal).


The 2012 line up includes, Zanzibar: Kidumbaki JKU, Shirikisho Sanaa, Skuli ya Kiongoni, Swahili Vibes Band, Tandaa Traditional Group, Tausi Women's Taarab, Utamaduni JKU, Kidumbaki JKU, Wanafunzi wa SOS Zanzibar ( Pemba): Juhudi Taarab, Mkota Spirit Dancers.
Tanzania mainland : Lady Jaydee, Leo Mkanyia, Lumumba Theatre Group, Seven Survivor, Tunaweza Band, Jembe Culture Group, Jagwa Music , FM Academia.
Uganda : Ndere Troupe, Qwela



Kenya : Ogoya Nengo, Super Mazembe
Congo Brazzaville : Freddy Massamba
South Africa : Tumi and The Volume
Nigeria : Nneka
Cape Verde : Ary Morais
Comoros: Chébli Msaïdie
Madagascar : Hanitra Reunion : Kozman Ti Dalon
Sudan :Camirata Group
