JALANGO AND OTOS TO CHAMPION MATERNAL HEALTH
Comedians Jalango and Otos have been appointed the goodwill ambassadors for the White Ribbon Alliance, an international coalition that pushes for change to make pregnancy and childbirth safe for women and newborns around the world.
Women and newborn babies die or suffer severe injury during childbirth every year – despite the fact that the vast majority of these injuries and deaths are preventable.
Now, Jalango and Otos from the popular TV show Papa Shirandula will be going on a countrywide tour in the country to sensitize the men and letting them know that they are also responsible in ensuring their wife’s are taken care off and deliver safely.
They will be toured Uganda in February then head out to Zambia, and later to Rwanda championing the cause and meeting with other goodwill ambassadors.
White Ribbon Alliance has received support from a number of celebrities like Emma Thompson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Judi Dench and Naomi Campbell. In Kenya Ida Odinga is the patron.
