TOXIC SPEAKS HER MIND – INDEPENDENTLY

Controversial personality Toxic wears many hats, from socialite to dancer turned singer. She spoke to Hot Secrets about her European tour, the love of her life, and her latest music project.
How is fame treating you?
Well, fame for me is somehow a bitch. So, I like to ignore the fact that it exists.

What was the idea behind the Independent Video?
Independent is a song I wrote some time back when I was still dealing with another single I had just released and it didn’t do well in the market. But I’m a fighter. I don’t give up. If you listen to its lyrics, it highlights on dancing and the independence of a woman. I wanted to bring out the two factors. Something that is different.
Are you recording any collabos?
Well, as for collabos, I won’t say much right now but i can say for sure I have a few lined up. Until I have at least had the song concept laid out and we have started recording with the artists, ill keep it close to my chest.
You are touring Europe right now, how is that like?
I have been to the UK for two weeks and its not bad. For some weird reason it felt no different from home apart from the good roads and trains and fast Internet speeds.

What shows are lined up for you there?
I have had a couple of shows here in Germany, where I am based. Recently, I performed in Augsburg, Gutersloh and I am currently getting ready to curtain raise for Awilo Longomba in his show here in Hamburg in December. I am still meeting new promoters in the field and I am sure I will have more shows with time.

What is the last book you enjoyed reading…
To be honest, I’m not much of a book reader but the book I want to buy this year is The Power of a Praying Wife. I hear its nice and I think I’d love to read it.

A common misconception about me…
People think I’m this arrogant bitch who thinks she has her way with everything.

My worst childhood fears were…
Being raped.

My ideal night out is…
If you asked me that 2 years ago, I’d tell you partying out with my gals in Westlands, but now, a quiet dinner with my man and a bit of dancing would do perfect for me.
If I were a politician I would
Act more and speak less.

The best part of my job is…
Meeting different people with different characters, from different walks of life hence learning new things from them.
Living leader I admire…
Ahhhh… i guess this is where Martha Karua falls under. I admire her guts and if all women were like her - confidence wise - Kenya would be on a different level.

My greatest regret is…
I regret meeting the man of my dreams recently. I wish I’d met him years ago.

My greatest possession is…
My engagement ring.

TOXIC IS BACK!

Controversial dancer and socialite, Juliet Kwamboka, a.k.a Toxic is making a comeback to the entertainment scene, this time as a singer.

The CEO of Intoxicating Dancers has her comeback all mapped out, “My game plan is get back to the industry, as a recording artist and choreographer. I wont be dancing for other artistes but I will still sing and dance with my girls they will be part and parcel of my package.”
The singer who is now signed with Grandpa Records and Maliza Umaskini promotions says that she is still holding on to her job as a sales and marketing executive in a tourist firm.
Have a look out for her latest video It’s You before the end of this month.

TOXIC: I’M NOT WYCLEF’S JUMPOFF

Wycleff poses with Toxic (dressed in black) and her dancers before the MAMAs

Socialite and dancer Toxic is up in arms after a report in a local daily branded her Wycliff Jean’s chips funga.
A chips funga or bhajia funga or take away is Nairobi slang for a one-night stand. “Everyone who was there knows that Wyclef was interested in one of my pals not me.”
She said that the said relationship between former Fugees star and the Toxic dancer was not clandestine, “He introduced her to some guys after The MAMAs as “my girlfriend” and he called her just the other day.”
On the reports, Toxic whose real name is Juliet Kwamboka said, “It is a lie. What they published is wrong I can’t have my relationship jeopardised over misleading reports.”
Toxic has kept a low profile recently mostly because of her new beau. “I wouldn’t mind if he wasn’t in my life but now he is. This could get in the way of my relationship.

TOXIC GETS A DAY JOB

Socialite and dancer Juliet Kwamboka (middle), popularly known as Toxic, has secured a day job as a sales executive in a dial up shopping firm. She however stresses that she is not about to quit dancing any time soon.
“Firstly, I am never going to stop dancing. I was born to do it,” she said. About her job Toxic said, “It is a new company formed three months ago. We specialise in deliveries. That's general deliveries of laundry, shopping, cooking gas, mineral water. Our target market are the busy Nairobians who rarely have time to go shopping therefore you either call us or log onto our website www.dialupshopping.com, and place your order. We will do your shopping and drop it at your office or at home.”

Toxic’s business partner dies

Early this month we reported that dancer Toxic had sold part of her company, Intoxicating Dancers to an American dancer. Well, that business relationship was short lived. The buyer of the company, Renee Rugendo passed away on Monday at midnight.
Rene, 23, was in ICU for a week after a fatal road accident involving a collision with a trailer in Washington DC.
A grieving Toxic said, “Her death has been so sudden and very traumatizing for all of us. She was not just a business partner but she was also like a sister and a dear friend too. Her demise is very unfortunate since she was to come see me as we finalized our contract but she left us all of a sudden.”

Toxic clears the air on marriage claims

Socialite dancer Toxic (pictured centre with her dancers) is sticking with a “no wedding” comment even as claims of her impending nuptials make the rounds on the gossip blogs.
In a telephone conversation, she said, “Funny enough my boyfriend was in town when the story came out and he took it as a joke,” So, are you planning a wedding?
"No," she said. Then are you engaged? I asked, "Engaged? That I won’t answer. I will save it for another day."
A source close to the dancer, whose real name is Juliet Kwamboka, claimed that she is currently dating a wealthy man from Dubai. When asked to comment on that, Toxic laughed it off with a breezy, “He is a business man that is all. This speculation is not helping the relationship. My boyfriend is not comfortable with all this media attention.”
