TV actor and recording artiste Alfayo is yet to be buried after he was shot dead during a carjacking incident in Kiambu's Ruaka area.
The star whose real name was Duncan Nyamari, played the comical assistant to Tumbili MP Kabaila in KTN's Monday night drama series Mheshimiwa.



His friends and family are meeting today as from 5pm at Norwich House, 8th floor to discuss the way forward of the funeral them tomorrow (January 12) at Kamata Studios.
The Strathmore University student was shot dead outside his parent’s residence as his mother, who is a police officer, watched, standard reported. The police recovered the salon car that was jacked from Alfayo, abandoned near International School in Kitsuru area several hours after the incident.



He was a lively character and had started a music group with his brother dubbed Nomadz.

LARRY MADOWO MOVES TO NTV

Business reporter Larry Madowo will as soon as Monday be broadcasting from NTV. The ex-KTN reporter has moved stations. He spoke to Hot Secrets about it.

I had a dream job at KTN, and NTV just improved on that dream is the allure of the possibilities that come with it was too enticing to ignore.”
His parting shot, “I leave KTN in good faith, we did not disagree. I am grateful to the Standard Group for taking a chance on me and giving me an opportunity in April 2008 when I had no TV experience at all and to my former bosses for their encouragement, critique and support.”
On his most memorable moments in KTN? "I have absolutely enjoyed my time at KTN and there were many great moments. I love meeting travelling and I had the chance to visit 3 continents and many countries in between and report on some great stories from them. Another high for me was when I pioneered the inaugural KTN Financial Markets Live, the afternoon business show that broke new ground in day time business programming and has led to at least 2 copycats. And more recently, my involvement in the coverage of the referendum and the promulgation was a big kick; there are few things that beat reporting history live and experiencing it first hand."
Larry's final shot, "I will miss all my colleagues at KTN and wish them all the best."

ACTRESS ACCUSES COLLO OF SMEAR CAMPAIGN

A former reality TV show contestant Isabel Njeri know by her screen name on The Presenter as Bellah has accused rapper Collo of causing mischief for her with a former boss.
According to Bellah, Collo sent an SMS to her former boss – a bank CEO – accusing her of spreading rumours about him, claiming that Collo’s girlfriend is with child.
The CEO, them sent the text back to Bellah.
It read: “Hi Collo just sent me a message not happy with you for spreading rumours that he soon to be a daddy. This has gotten to his fiancee. He contacted me thinking you working for us i.e He wanted us to deal with you at that level, he is serious about it, so tafadhali if true wacha hiyo."
Bellah, also an actress on KBC’s Thursday night TV series Udhalimu told Hot Secrets, “I was confused, sad and angry, I did not understanding why Collo would actually make such decisions to try and get me fired even though I had stopped working at the said bank.”
She added, the whole situation was a culmination of a misunderstanding and shouldn’t have gone as far as it did. Anyhow, Bellah is now concentrating on working on her album although her single Maisha Yangu recorded by Mandugu Digital is already out.

Watch out for a new TV series on KTN. It’s taunted as the most groundbreaking TV show yet. Dubbed Be The Judge, It’s set to premiere today.
It’s a Law drama of sorts where nine people are selected to serve as jurors.
They are to pass judgment on real cases. Catch it as 8pm.

KTN Dominates the CNN MultiChoice Awards

Finalists in the prestigious CNN MultiChoice African Journalist 2009 Competition were announced on Tuesday by Azubuike Ishiekwene, Chair of the independent judging panel. The competition is now in its 14th year.
On the list are three KTN journalist; John-Allan Namu, James Moturi Mogaka and John Benson Mwangi. Others are Sammy Muraya of Metro FM, Boniface Mwangi of Expression Today and K24’s Violet Otindo.
The winners of the competition will be announced at an Award Ceremony and Gala Evening at The International Convention
Centre, Durban, South Africa on Saturday 18th July.


Isha Sesay

The hosts for the evening will be Isha Sesay, presenter of CNN weekly programme ‘Inside Africa’, joined on stage by South African eNews Channel presenter Macfarlane Molele.
This year the recipient of the Free Press Africa Award is Nicaise Kibel’bel Oka, of Les Coulisses in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He is awarded this prize, for his work in the DRC, and also in recognition of all the journalists in the DRC who have put their lives at risk in telling the story. There are three journalists in particular that we would like to mention who were murdered fulfilling their professional duties:
Pascal Kabungulu (killed 31st July 2005)
Serge Maheshe (killed 13th June, 2007)
Didace Namujimbo (killed 23rd November 2008)

KTN's News Anchor Esther Arunga is now a certified lawyer!

Esther Arunga the TV personality who also appeared in a Hollywood blockbuster was yesterday admitted to the bar. Esther took the oath at the High Court in a swearing in ceremony presided over by Chief Justice Evans Gicheru.
The TV anchor, who is now a qualified lawyer sworn to solemnly do nothing dishonest, and not obstruct any cause of action for personal gain or malice – You know, the whole lawyer oath. The fresh-faced KTN Anchor was an extra in a blink and you miss her scene in the first Spiderman movie.

Allan Namu and Mohammed Ali 'in hidding'?

Word making the rounds claim that KTM investigative reporters John Allan Namu and Mohammed Ali are in hiding following death threats.
Well, let me clue yu why the two would be stashed away somwhere abroad.
two weeks a go they did a major, investigative peice that shook the nation. ‘Track it’ was in the middle of it. The TV feature potrayed Track It as defrauding customers by not fitting car track devices which could help in case of a car jacking.
however, Linus Kaikai the Managing Editor of KTN revealed, “We are not aware of any threats. We knew the story was a sensitive one, so we had them take a break. They are not in hiding but have taken a normal break and will be back to work soon.”

I recieved this email from a very irritated view of KTN and reader of Standard. read on and find out what they he/she is raving about.

The idea of helping the famine-striken families is good and we have no problem with that. What amuses us is how at the Standard Group, the project Mercy Train is a one man show.One man Paul Melly vice chairman. Just look at the Saturday Standard page 8 and 9. The man appears 7 times receiving donations. The other day he was on TV (KTN ofcourse) receiving a donations from some high school boys. One wonders whether Standard does not have other people to whom he can delegate the job. Does the Group have a Corporate Affairs head who cn do the job? That is how dictators are created or create themselves. They want to be the ones to do everything.
In the last few weeks we have seen him doing virtually everything on TV. He was the one presenting the Presenter, a show that he completely ruined. By the way what was Presenter. Didn't Melly hire all the three finalists, so what was it all about? Melly wanted it to look like The Apprentice but he has no drive for it, after all Standard Group is not his company.
There are stories going round Standard that the CEO Paul Wanyaga (who appears twice on page 8 and 9) has been pushed aside and is considering quitting. We saw it on the Presenter presentation evening when Wanyaga was called to give a speech only for Melly to take the mic and the man never spoke.
On the raid memorial day he was pushed to the back benches and never even invited to say a word. Imagine then that he is the Standard CEO.
No wonder we hear that the Group has decided to forcefully deduct 5% from every employees salary for the Melly Train. Ofcourse they will do it but that will be the last time their employees will trust them with their money. But that is Standard business. For now views and Standard readers are sick and tired of seing Melly's dental gap whenever they switch on their TVs or open the pages.
