IT WAS ALL SMILES AS ‘THE FATE OF THE FURIOUS 8’ SCREENED IN KENYA

DStv unleashed a to-die-for experience to Kenya’s supercar lovers via screening of the Fast and Furious 8 – The Fate of the Furious during its simultaneous worldwide movie premier.

True to the brand's promise of putting the customer at the heart of its business, MultiChoice East Africa Commercial General Manager, Kenneth Oyolla said, “The latest edition of Fast and Furious has thrown many fans into a frenzy. It is definitely exciting to be bringing you the movie just following its worldwide release . DStv is proud to continue to bring you the latest content first as part of our mission to deliver value to our customers by making great entertainment more accessible. We will continue to work to deliver the shows that people love into their hands through such screenings and also to their living rooms through our DStv platform.”

In the new movie, The Fate of the Furious, fans experience the usual supercars that can leap from skyscraper to skyscraper without as much as a graze on the bumper; a warehouse of precious metals on four wheels including the Dodge Charger driven by Vin Diesel’s character Dominic Toretto, a 1966 Corvette Stingray, 4 identical Subaru BR-Zs and a nuclear submarine chasing cars across a Barents Sea ice plain. The twist in the movie is the new character, and a mysterious woman played by Charlize Theron who seduces Dom (Vin Diesel) forcing the crew back to the world of crime.

The movie is the eighth installment in The Fast and the Furious franchise and stars Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Kurt Russel, Scott Eastwood, Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren.

Before the premier, DStv Premium customers were recently treated to an exclusive Fast and Furious M-Net Movies pop-up channel featuring the past seven high-octane movies playing back to back for 9 days from 1 – 9 April. The Fast and Furious movies make up one of the most successful film franchises in the world.

The screening was done by DStv in partnership with Moët & Hennessy brands, Ford - makers of the Ford Mustang and other versions of the Ford used in the Fast and Furious sequel and Engen (Kenya) also featured in the film.
