Zuku Shows Get Kalasha Awards Nod

Zuku shows have bagged nominations in this year's Kalasha Awards,

The six nominations for awards recognize excellence in television and film industry for shows produced between 2013 and 2014 covering the East African region.

“We are very excited about these Zuku show nominations which are a further affirmation of our belief that well produced local programming that is relevant to and resonates with our audiences, is a sure win. Zuku is therefore dedicated to celebrating our cultures and stories while enhancing creativity and skills within the East African region,” Wananchi Group Head of Corporate Affairs Kathleen Openda said.

The Zuku shows nominated for the respected awards are the Best Lead Actor in a TV drama - Kevin Maina for Groove Theory; Best Host in a TV Show category are: - Kiran Jethwa - Tales from the Bush Larder, Denzel and Sia - Krazy Kool Show and Marcus Olang – Afrofuse. Others are Best TV Documentary - Tales from the Bush Larder and Best TV Drama - Groove Theory.

She said Zuku recognizes the importance of playing a pivotal role in the development and growth of the regional film industry as demonstrated in production of top quality shows and sponsorship of key events such as the Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF) and the Uganda Film Festival and its support for Kalasha International Awards.

Zuku is running a call for voting their nominees for Film & TV Awards as well as the market registration on Zuku Entertainment and using Zuku online platforms in pushing awareness of the event.

This year the awards will bring under one roof three main activities namely: the Kalasha Eastern Africa Film & TV Trade Show, 28-29 October 2015; the Kalasha International Film Festival, 26-30 October 2015 and the Kalasha Film & TV Awards, 30 October 2015.

Zuku will also book a booth at the two-day market to reach out to its customers and broaden its competitive edge as the fastest growth brand in the East African region.
