Wangechi To Drop New Single Ahead Of Her Performance With Morgan Heritage

Female rap sensation, Wangechi, is set to release her third single, Fast Lane, via Soundcloud on Friday, 1200 a.m., a day before she shares a stage with legendary reggae band Morgan Heritage during the Extravaganza concert on Saturday at KICC.

The groovy single ‘Fast Lane’ produced by musical genius and her mentor Kevin Provoke has a very catchy hook that will certainly get you singing along. The song delves into her rise in the music industry, facing criticism and her resolve to keep making good music as she aims for greatness.

It has been an exciting couple of roller coaster months for the rapper since she released her first single of the year ‘Cardiac Arrest’ that expressed her emotional state following last year’s tragic accident.

Cardiac Arrest is currently enjoying airplay on MTV base and other international media outlets. Wangechi also launched the Wangechi Sessions; exemplifying the billion reasons to believe rallying call by Coca Cola.

She is one-of-five Kenyan artistes featuring in the third season of Coke Studio Africa that is set top premier on October 11th and just last week held her first concert in Africa during the Peace One Day concert as well as performing the Peace anthem with other African musical icons like Ice Prince, Ali Kiba, Dama Do Bling and Maurice Kirya.

With an endless list of thrilling projects, Wangechi speaks of her performance in Rwanda with lots of excitement.

“I fell in love with Rwanda from the moment we landed. I also felt honoured to be singing about peace in a country that has gone through much and really understands the meaning of peace,” said Wangechi.

“Through my lines I wanted to bring out the power that we have as Africans, that even though we have faced so many tough times we are not defined by those moments; quoting a section of the lyrics; “Not divided by segregation and were not shaken by definition".

The rapper is already making headway into the Rwandan music scene, after spending some studio time with Rwanda’s top R&B artist, Butera Knowless.

“Watch this space,” is all she could say about the session.
