Africa’s best contestants line up for second round to fight for Semi-Final place

The Pan-African phase of The Guinness Football Challenge game show kicked off last night on screens across the continent and the Kenyan team clinched a spot in the Semi-Final as runners-up.

Fans of the show tuned in to get behind their nation as the very best contestants from across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Cameroon and Ghana all went head-to-head in a bid to win $250,000 USD and to grab that Pan-African champion crown.

Our Kenyan team comprising Francis Ngigi and Kepha Kimani may not have made it all the way to the Guinness Money Wall but they were the show's runners up and will still make the Semi-Finals.

Emerand Tchouta, 24 and Abdul Salam, 25 from Cameroon made it all the way to the final round after putting in a display of knowledge and skill. They went all the way and won $5,000 USD to add on to their existing winnings of $1,500 USD.

Arianne Okong'o, Marketing Manager, Guinness and Partner Brands at EABL commented: "The Quarter Finals of The Guinness Football Challenge hit screens across our nation last night and well done to Francis and Kepha who made it all the way to the Semi-Final! With a team from Cameroon and our Kenyan duo certain of places in the Semi-Finals, it is now down to next week's contestants to really step up and show that they really know the beautiful game inside out and they have the best football skills the continent has seen since the Africa Cup of Nations – good luck to all of them!"
The next four teams to see if they can triumph over the very best teams across Africa are:

Our Kenyan team in Red shirts, youth football coach Kenneth Kamau, 23, and driver Willis Ogutu, 30, both from Nairobi. The pressure may have got to them in the final stages of the National episodes but are they ready to add to their already bagged total of $3,000 USD

Playing in the Blue shirts from Dar es Salaam in Tanzania will be Daniel Msekwa, 21, the 'Brain' and his 'Brawn' partner Mwalimu Akida Hamad, 26. They won $5,500 USD on the National show so definitely have the skill and knowledge to win big

Archille Stephane and Martial Toubou from Douala in Cameroon will be hoping that the Green shirts will be lucky for them. Archille will be taking on the football trivia questions and Martial the physical rounds. They won the Cash Ball in their episode which bumped up their total winning amount to $4,000 USD

Sporting the Black shirts will be Dennis Nyaku, 25 and Francis Nyarko, 27, both from Ho in Ghana who won $1,500 USD in their National rounds. Dennis is the 'Brain' and Francis, an artist, puts down his paint brushes and picks up football boots in the physical challenges
