ZONKE'S KENYA TOUR WITH TUSKER MALT

Visiting South African singer Zonke was the second African act to perform at the members’ at the Tusker Malt Lager Club 100 affair at the Arboretum.

The lounge style set up at the gardens saw the South African soul singer take the stage at 9pm. After Eddy Grey and his band had finished their hour long set. The singer performed singles off her two albums Ina Ethe (Give and Take in Isixhosa) and Life, Love and Music.

However, before the show could really hit it off, security personnel from State House were at the venue asking the organizers to shut off the music but I guess a compromise was reached and the volume was lowered.

Anyhoo, Zonke said that being in Kenya was “every artiste dreams of crossing borders with their music.”

She told members of the press that she has had meeting with soul legend Anthony Hamilton and his reps about a possible collaboration.

Zonke’s big break came when a producer hooked her up with a German band called Jazz Cantina. She wrote a track for them called ‘Africa My Motherland’.

With her new album titled Ina Ethe - that has now gone double platinum - she is attempting to break all rules. Zonke described the album as “my best work to date” and that “it came from a sincere place, I allowed people to know about myself. That is why the truth resonated with the fans.”

She is a UN goodwill ambassador who has “adopted her old high school where she supplies computers” to aid in their education. Tusker Malt 100 Club is a community of Tusker Malt consumers, providing them with the opportunity to discover rising African music talent and interact with each other via TML100.com.
