KENYAN CELEBS TO ENDORSE VOTER CAMPAIGN

Close to 20 local artists are scheduled to endorse Kuvuka Kuvuka, a campaign aimed at driving up voter registration numbers especially amongst the youth.

The campaign will be driven by Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), True Blaq Ltd, URAIA Foundation and Open Society Initiative for East Africa (OSIEA), and will use art and entertainment to draw in crowds.

Kuvuka Kuvuka builds upon the success of the 2007 Vijana Tugutuke campaign which registered over 2.4 million voters, the highest recorded number of new voters registered within an electoral period. The campaign will be held over the 30-day of voter registration period beginning November 12, 2012 and will cover major towns across the country.

Officials from the four partner organizations and the national artists will gather to explain the campaign mechanics and objectives at a dinner event at Hekima Gardens.
