EABL UNVEILS A PAN AFRICAN EDITION OF THE GUINNESS FOOTBALL CHALLENGE

East African Breweries Limited has today, announced the launch of the third season of the GUINNESS FOOTBALL CHALLENGE, a television game show that gives football lovers an opportunity to demonstrate their passion for the world’s favourite sport.

This year up to 250,000 USD in prize money is up for grabs in the contest that will draw teams from eight African countries including: Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Cameroon, Ghana, Gabon, Cote d’ Ivoire and Senegal. The winners from each country will then compete in a television game show that will be aired in 2013.

“We are calling on all football fans that have the wits and skills to step up and represent Kenya in the exciting and bigger Pan-African GUINNESS FOOTBALL CHALLENGE,” said EABL Kenya Marketing Director Caroline Ndung’u. “To compete for a chance to appear on the game show contestants will, audition as a pair, one of whom should demonstrate their great ball-handling skills while the other will act as knowledge resource for the beautiful game“.

The challenge will pit the pairs against each other to gauge who has the skills and knowledge to be crowned Pan-African champions. The minimum age of the contestants will be 18 years and above. The winners from Kenya will compete against those from Uganda and Tanzania. This year, contestants will be shortlisted from three recruitment events. The first recruitment event will take place in Mombasa on the 20th of October. The other two recruitment drives will take place in November, in Nakuru and Nairobi.

“The Guinness Football Challenge season 3 has been packaged to reach out and reward football lovers and loyal Guinness consumers across East and West African regions with amazing cash prizes to be won,” said Ms Ndung’u.

Season 3 will also lead to the unveiling of the Guinness VIP social networking platform that allows fans to test their football trivia through their mobile phones. Guinness VIP will be accessed on multiple channels such as: a custom-built instant messaging mobile application, a text messaging service, on a branded Facebook page and on a dedicated website.

The Guinness VIP social network will be available through the internet and is specifically built for mobile phone users. The platform will also allow those who would like to participate in the show to access information and learn more about football as well as blog on different football topics. Fans of the show will also be able to link their participation through local radio stations where they stand a chance to win Guinness hampers or a fast-track pass to the knowledge challenges at one of the audition events, just for demonstrating great football knowledge.
