SCENES FROM THE JOHNNY GILL NAIROBI CONCERT
This past weekend, Tusker Lite, hosted US Rnb singer Johnny Gill at the Carnivore Grounds.
Dubbed ‘Discover the Tusker Lite lounge experience with Johnny Gill’, the show run like clockwork. Johnny got the girls swooning and the men singing along.
He entertained RnB lovers to previous and new music from his recently released sixth studio album “Still winning”.
Johnny, 46, was born in Washington DC where he honed his skills with the Gospel group Wings of Faith before being discovered by RnB great Stacy Lattisaw. His big break came in 1987 when he replaced Bobby Brown in New Edition.
He is credited with elevating New Edition to uncharted greatness and used his remarkable voice to steer the all star trio LSG consisting of Keith Sweat and the late great Gerald Levert to platinum plus success.
As part of famed quintet New Edition, Gill is best known for tracks such as My,My,My and Fairweather Friend among others. His music genre fits into the popular Kenyan ‘New Jack swing’.
