With
three albums under his belt, Jimmy Gait has managed to engrave his name on the
bed rock of the local music industry. Born James Ngaita, he was determined to
become a pastor until he got a calling of a different kind; music.
His
path to music didn’t come easily though and he had to take up odd jobs
including one as a mjengo person
(construction worker) to make ends meet. Lady luck however came calling in the
form of a missionary in Kijabe who introduced him to the piano and since then,
life has never been the same for the amazing entertainer.
His
single Wakati hit the music industry
with a bang, propelling him to levels beyond his imagination. He has since
managed to scoops multiple music awards including Groove Awards with Skiza and Kisima Awards for
his musical prowess. Muhadhara, Huratiti
and Holy Day are his albums so
far. And having performed at the MAMA
awards and at the Coca Cola World Cup celebration, the sky is the limit for
this Kenyan star.
For
Jimmy Gait, his main aspiration is to be a beacon of hope. He desires to cut a figure that people can look up to for
inspiration. For that reason, he has initiated “Make It or Make It”, a campaign
that seeks to empower young people with the relevant tools for self-belief.
