ZIM AFRO JAZZ ACT FUNDRAISING TO ATTEND BLANKETS AND WINE
Zimbabwean Afro-Jazz sensation, Edith “WeUtonga” Katiji is reportedly appealing to her fans on social media to help her raise cash to be able to attend the September edition of Blankets and Wine in Nairobi's Mamba Village.
Zim Press reports quote her as saying, “By contributing an amount of $10 (United States dollars), you will enable us to travel to Kenya, l realised that l have five thousand Facebook friends and if each one of them donates at least $10 my tour will definitely come to fruition.”
She wrote her appeal on Facebook. “Thank you so very much for the overwhelming response thus far! We are one ticket down, 7 to go. If you are in South Africa, do inbox me for e bank details. The same goes for all my friends in the UK! My love and appreciation always...”
However, some people have been taking advantage. She chastised them online saying, “For those who have been asking if it’s really me sending you the emails, it is! And to those trying to take advantage of this, you have just been unfriended and reported!”
If she manages to get the cash, this will be her maiden trip to Kenya. Her latest post on her Facebook read: “No amount is too little! It will go a long way. Thank you for the contributions. Keep them coming!”
In an interview with The Zimbabwean recently, she confirmed the tour and indicated that her eight-piece band desperately needs the money in order to participate at the monthly event.
