GHANA’S BLACK STARS SHOOT ADVERT IN KENYA

Ghana’s national football team, The Black Stars, spent the final hours of their five day training camp in Kenya taking shots of a different kind last week. It was lights, camera and action as the legendary football icons went through the paces, recording a series of promotional advertisements for the Guinness Football Challenge Television Game Show on the grounds of the Windsor Golf & Country Club.

The Guinness Football Challenge is a first of its kind reality game show that gives football lovers a unique opportunity to showcase their football skills and knowledge in a competitive framework that rewards excellent performance. The game show first debuted in Kenya last year, and is scheduled to launch in Ghana next month.
Speaking at the filming session, Kenya Breweries Marketing Manager for Partner Brands Kenneth Kareithi said that Guinness would continue to focus on football as a platform for engaging with consumers. “Over the years Guinness has cultivated a rich relationship with football lovers across the continent, through strategic broadcast sponsorships and unique platforms like the Guinness Football Challenge”.

Guinness association with football has in recent years been propelled by the appointment of football icons Michael Essien, Samwel Eto’o and Jay Jay Okocha as Guinness Brand Ambassadors. Guinness is also a beverage sponsor of the Black Stars, which had pitched tent in Kenya last week, ahead of their scheduled 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Congo’s national team, the Red Devils.
