KENYA LOOSES FILMMAKER AND EVENT PROMOTER
Harun Muturi popularly known as "Meta Meta”, aged 74 passed on September 7 morning in India after a brave battle with cancer.
Harun, a filmmaker and event promoter was a long term friend and close associate of President Kibaki. He is also the brother in law to the late J.M Kariuki the late MP for Nyandarua.
He brought popular bands such as Bonny M and Millie Jackson to Kenya in the 1980s. He also produced one of the first African Movies in Kenya called The Safari Rally.
In President Kibaki's condolence note, the Head of State observed that Harun possessed immense business acumen, which saw him rise rapidly as a leading businessman in Kenya.
“His business interests were diverse and included real estate, mining, film making and entertainment,” President Kibaki said.
