WAPI-WAPI CROWNED 2011 MALTA GUINNESS STREET DANCE CHAMPIONS
The Malta Guinness Street Dance Pan African Championships came to an epic grand finale last Friday, 5th August 2011, at the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre with WAPI-WAPI dance crew from Kenya being crowned the 2011 Malta Guinness Street Dance Pan African Champions!
Guinness Ghana Breweries limited is excited to announce the winning crew after rewarding loyal Street Dance fans with an unforgettable event showcasing exceptional talent in Street Dance and also special acts from Ghana’s top hip life artiste: 4 X 4, DCryme, and Trigmatic.
Exhibiting the very best in style and swagger to a panel of esteemed judges including, Dwayne Nosworthy of the United Dance Organization in the UK, Prudanse Maidou of Central African Republic and Michael Ross from East Africa, WAPI-WAPI snatched the trophy and celebrated in true Malta Guinness style by putting on a show stopping winning performance!
The winning dance crew did not only earn themselves the prestigious title of MGSD Pan African Champion, but also a life changing prize of USD 36,000 (Kenya Shillings 3.3 million) which was presented to them by Ekwunife Okoli, Managing Director, Africa Regional Markets. He applauded all competing countries and commented “Ghana is thrilled to have had the opportunity to host another successful Malta Guinness Street Dance Pan African Championships for the second year running. The event surpassed all expectations and the audience definitely enjoyed every moment of the Grand Finale. We say well done to our winners from Kenya.”
WAPI-WAPI came head-to-head with Africa’s best street dance crews from Ghana, Nigeria and Tanzania.
The exciting Pan African championship will all be captured into another thrilling and engaging six part series which will be broadcast across the continent.
