JULIANI RALLIES CELEBRITY WAITERS FOR CHARITY

After the successful Kenyans for Kenya initiative drive that saw corporates and Kenyans from all walks of life come together to raise funds for our needy Kenyans from the north, Juliani adds to the kitty by rallying support from other celebrities through the Kama Si Sisi ‘Celebrities for Kenya’ Challenge to raise more funds for the initiative.

Last month, hiphop artistes, singers, TV news personalities joined Juliani, through his Kama Si Sisi ‘Celebrities for Kenya’ Challenge at the famous Ranalo Foods (K'Osewe) restaurant located along Kimathi street for a noble cause by serving as waiters. On the day, they raised funds that went into feeding the hunger stricken Kenyans in Turkana.



Benefiting the Kenyans for Kenya Initiative, the likes of Safaricom’s CEO Bob Collymore, Nonini, Nameless, Avril, Eric Omondi, Jeff Koinange, BMF, John Allan Namu, Pierra Makena among other celebrities took orders from the customers and in the same breath distributed informative fliers urging them to contribute to the cause by tipping their services.

“As an extension of our contribution as musicians through the Kilio song that was used to drive the fundraising campaign, we would like to rally other artists and celebrities to contribute further by raising funds through this one day initiative” Juliani said.
Kama Si Sisi ‘Celebrities for Kenya’ was part of Juliani’s wider campaign Kama Si Sisi that uses various platforms to sensitize Kenyans on the need of taking care of yourself by taking care of others.

SAUTI SOL AND COMEDIAN ERIC OMONDI GO GREEN

The latest artist to go-green in Kenya are Afro pop, all-male band Sauti Sol and comedian Eric Omondi.
“The campaign aims to celebrate environmental stewardship in art, fashion and song, reminding us that the choices we make have long-term consequences for the planet”, says Sheila Koki GreenFest spokesman. After a green living induction, the comedian acknowledged it was more comical and fun to go green. The comedian and his troupe will unleash green comedy at the GreenFest Music&Arts Festival, a 3day festival to be held in the New Year eve. Sauti Sol will headline the ‘Green New Year’ celebrations among other acts.
the multi-talented acoustic band nominated for the Africa Music Awards 2010 and leading aka Eriko have gone green.
The month of December 2010 is dubbed as a ‘green month'.




Artist working on green songs include rapper Abbas, Wyre, Saint Crooner reggae artist, Mashauri and Wamathai the poet. The artist will be attending a creative environment workshop facilitated by environmental scientists in the month of October. The workshop will feature art and music and how these artistic capacities can develop and run an environmental solution project in local communities. This workshop will be open to any interested artist.
The festival organizers posted on its site (www.beryllfoundation.org ), a call for performing artist. The call notice states artistes who wish to participate at GreenFest to apply with the understanding that they will actively participate in promoting awareness of our planet safety. They will undergo climate change awareness training. The deadline for application is November 15. All selected artists, bands and groups will be provided with stalls to market and display their music merchandise during the festival.

COMEDIANS NIGHT CANCELLED

Have you ever imagined all of Kenya’s comedians on one stage? Tonight (August 26) that fantasy would have become a reality.
But sources close to the organizer told Hot Secrets that the event dubbed The Night Before… was hurriedly put together.
“Because of the that, the comedians did not think they are ready to deliver their best,” the source said.
Some of the top acts lined for the night included Churchill, Eric Omondi, The Redykulas crew, Rapcha the Sayantist and Washamba among others.

PEOPLE LEAVE ERIC OMONDI ALONE

This here is a commentary on the raging issue of whether budding comedian Eric Omondi has it in him to complete the first season of his comedy show, Hawayu on KTN.

Here goes...
"I'm all for Eric Omondi and his TV show endeavours.
What? You don't like it? Well bite me!
For one, the kid is super-talented. So what if his KTN show is a mess?
Does that mean, Eric is over? Does it mean that he needs another day job?
People, people, let's be reasonable.
In life we all learn from our mistakes and Eric might also do so from the ashes of Hawayu.
Eric was the funniest talent on the NTV comedy shows Churchill Live.
Everyone watched the show in anticipation for the five minutes; Eric would get on stage and deliver his jokes perfectly.
Then, he was the King of stand up. Everyone applauded him for his good work. Everyone had something nice to say about him.
So? What went wrong?
Just because he was brave enough to stand out of the crowd and produce his own show on KTN, now everyone is talking issh?
Do you all know how hard it is put your self in the line of fire? Being in a public domain where the public will sling mad at you. All you can do in your defence is wake up each and every morning und do what you can best, hoping that will keep you afloat.
Well, if you have never taken any risk in your life, job or relationship, don't dare cast a stone at Eric.
Leave him alone.
Whether or not Hawayu sucks, that's all in the eye of the beholder - of which there are many.

Eric Omondi and other Comedians for Kisumu Charity Show

Top comedian will be hitting up Kisumu City for a charity show dubbed 100 Percent Comedy Extravaganza. This show has been organised by the firm Big Time Comedians to promote peace in Kisumu city and to honour those who died there during last year’s post poll chaos.
On May 30 and 31 a line up of comedians that includes stand up comic Eric Omondi, radio presenter Otoyo, Citizenn Radio’s Lijodi, Pengle and Jakakamega. Will thrill revelers at Jomo Kenyatta Grounds followed by a night show at The Public Service Club on May 31. The gate charges will be Sh200.
