Ugandan born British Soul singer Michael Kiwanuka was named the 2012 winner of the BBC ‘Sound of…’ competition.
This is a competition that is held annual by BBC with an aim of finding the most promising new music talent.
The Sound of 2012 list was compiled using tips from 184 key UK-based music critics, broadcasters and bloggers.
Kiwanuka started out as a session guitarist, working with rapper Tinie Tempah‘s producer Labrinth, before pursuing an active solo singing career and signing to Communion label, set up by Mumford and Sons’ Ben Lovett.
