A woman has sued world 3,000m steeplechase champion
Conseslus Kipruto for child neglect.
The woman says she is a 20-year-old orphan from Mosoriot in
Nandi county. Kipruto's home is within Mosoriot area.
She went to a children's court in Eldoret on Tuesday seeking
Sh50,000 every month for upkeep.
The complainant claims she cohabited with Kipruto between
2015 and 2016, that they had a boy but differed later and that he has cut all
communication with her.
The athlete has been summoned to court on September 25 for
the hearing.
The woman sought support from the Center for Human Rights
and Democracy (CHRD) in Eldoret to file the case.
“She came to us for assistance and we will provide the
lawyer to prosecute the case for her”, said CEO Ken Wafula.
The case was first filed in February but a date for the
hearing had not been set.
“We cohabited as husband and wife from May 2015 and were
blessed with one child," the woman says in her affidavit.
